I am a follower of Christ, wife to a godly man and mom to two precious girls. After having taught voice at the university level for several years, I decided to step back into being a full time stay-at-home mom and homeschool my kids. In 2019, we are embarking upon our fifth year of homeschooling and beginning our fourth year with Classical Conversations.
My prayer is that The Seed Sower will be inspiring, practical, and educational for all who read its pages.
Seeds of Faith
The first area of the blog will feature family devotions, scripture memory, posts about our faith journey, and much more. You will find strands of faith all throughout the blog because, for our family faith is the foundation. I have already written a nine-week family devotional on the Fruit of the Spirit. There are many ways you can adapt it to your family’s schedule and culture. Our kids loved going through it, and I have already received feedback from other families and Sunday school teachers who have used it in their homes and churches.
Seeds of Wisdom and Virtue
The quote that will definitively guide our homeschooling journey is this from Kevin Clark and Ravi Scott Jain of The Liberal Arts Tradition:
“In our view, the whole of education out to proceed from the love of God and neighbor. Education is more than the transference of knowledge, it is the transmission of values, culture, and the proper ordering of our loves.”
We are Christian Classical homeschoolers. I have embraced this tradition whole-heartedly and I hope my posts will inspire all homeschooling moms on their journey.
Seeds of Health
The third section is dedicated to helping families find ways to improve their health through holistic nutrition and preventative care. I have a passion for whole foods, easy recipes, facts about nutrition and the body, and all the ways God has provided for our physical needs through His creation. This day and age, we must be aware of the things that go in, on, and around our bodies. My hope is to provide practical, scientifically supported information that every family can use in their home.
Even though it is primarily geared toward parents, grandparents, and caregivers, this blog might be helpful for Sunday school teachers, daycare providers, and home-schooling communities. Please share it with anyone you think might benefit!
My prayer is that God richly blesses this endeavor.
He is the one true seed sower.
